An open poetry workshop for writers of all levels, led by Autumn Konopka

*Bring 10 copies of one original poem.

It’s important for poets to allow themselves to write – even when they think what they’re writing isn’t any good. As the poet Marvin Bell once said: “On the great scale of human vices, writing a bad poem doesn’t weigh very much.” But it’s also important for poets to take those “bad” poems and make them the best they can be.

In this workshop, writers at all levels – from those who’ve recently gotten the poetry bug to those who’ve been writing for years – will work as a team to make each other the best poets we can be. Poets are asked to bring at least 10 copies of one original poem, which will be discussed by the group and offered sensitive, constructive, and insightful feedback. We may also spend some time each session discussing the work of a famous poet and/or experimenting with writing exercises.

The workshop is free and open to the public. There is no pre-registration, and poets are welcome to drop-in, even if they can’t attend every session.
