autumn, i began making homemade bread many yrs ago after my marriage. the marriage was a disaster - except for the 2 kids we produced - but i still make bread. in fact, i wanted to share the timeless technique w/others so i teach it at the abington library. i found your bread blog fascinating! in my classes i aim to dispel one's Fear of Yeast. a suggestion for you. marketing depts want you to believe certain things about yeast that are totally untrue. just about ANY yeast will do for making bread. i buy fleischman's in a jar b/c it's economical. i use it for all my yeast breads and you can do it too. one scant tablespoon will make three breads, yes indeed! once that yeast gets rising, nothing short of freezing weather will stop it from growing. since tomro we'll be snowed-in again, perhaps you might even try making another bread. the little mister will certainly approve. and so will the big mister. guys esp. love bread. when i bake my 3 loaves i give a whole one to my b/f and he goes wild and will do anything for me!
